Training for Actual Motorcycling

David Hough recently posted an excellent article about the purpose of motorcycle training, “Situational Awareness.” I strongly recommend reading the article and the concepts he’s presenting.

Wow, that is good.

When I was a youngster my dad used to tell me "there is no such thing as an accident". Having been in multiple accidents (all cars), a few of which where I was a passenger, I vehemently disagreed with him. He held firm.

It wasn't until I after started riding and got a few years experience that I realized how right he was.

Ever since I was teaching the MSF course I've always told beginners that if you crash, it's your fault.

Trying to impress on people that safe motorcycling is more a mental than physical skill is tough.
